Recipe for a classic pulled pork using our chosen blend: House Hog Rub

Ingredients

  • 8-10 lb pork shoulder
  • 3-4 oz Stuart's Spices House Hog Rub
  • one can stout beer (can substitute with a dark soda)

Instructions

  1. Trim all visible fat from the pork shoulder
  2. Cut/score ½ inch into the pork shoulder in a 1-inch grid
  3. Rub the House Hog Rub into the meat, including cuts
  4. Wrap the meat in plastic wrap or place in a covered container
  5. Refrigerate overnight, or for at least 4 hours
  6. Place unwrapped, seasoned meat into crock pot and cover with the beer or dark soda
  7. Cook on low while at work or overnight, or until meat is tender enough to fall apart when a fork is inserted
  8. Remove roast from broth and pull meat apart using two forks
  9. Return the shredded meat to the broth to keep it moist
  10. Serve on a dish or make a sandwich with your favorite hard roll and some pickled cabbbage
