Bird's Eye Pepper (130,000 SHU)

African Bird's Eye Chiles (capsicum annuum) are a hot chile that grows wild in parts of northwest Africa. Use in place of cayenne but remember that it is 3 or 4 times hotter than typical cayenne (40,000 SHU). We also carry a Cayenne 40,000 SHU and a Cayenne 90,000 SHU.

The Scoville scale is a measurement of the spicy heat of a chili pepper. The number of Scoville heat units (SHU) indicates the amount of capsaicin present.
