Honeycomb Chocolate Chip Cookies

A Stuart’s and Stever’s collaboration!

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 2/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 package chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Stever’s Dark or Milk Chocolate Sponge Candy, crushed into small pieces
  • 1/2 – 1 teaspoon Stuart’s Spices Volcanic Seasoning, depending on how spicy you want them

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375° and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine shortening and butter, and mix until thoroughly combined.
  3. Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla and mix.
  4. Sift in flour, baking soda, salt, and volcanic seasoning, mixing in the chocolate chips and sponge candy after everything has mostly blended together.
  5. Roll into 1-inch balls and line evenly on ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until bottoms are golden brown.

Note: The sponge candy will dissolve and may cause your cookies to look less than perfect. That’s okay! They’ll taste delicious, and you can always move them around (with a bowl or cup) to get them back into a somewhat uniform shape.
